Handball involves 2 or 4 players (singles or doubles) a small ball, tough hands, a few walls and lots of speed. Handball is like squash without the rackets, with players striking a tiny ball against the front and side walls, the object being to place the ball where it eludes their opponent and thus deliver a point to the player who has "served".

The object of the game is to win each rally (exchange of shots) by serving or returning the ball so your opponent is unable to keep the ball in play. The ball is struck with the palm of the hand, or sometimes with a closed fist.

When a player has 21 points, they have won the game and the player who is first to win 2 games is declared the winner of the match.

In the early days the game was originally played in outdoor ball alleys and was often played with just a single wall. Nowadays, the game takes place in indoor handball courts, making the game even faster.

Hand ball can be played in different sized courts, a 60 feet x 30 feet and a 40 feet x 20 feet playing area. The small ball is about 2.2 inches in diameter, is made of rubber and weights about 62 grammes.
