Tomás 'Mossy' Quinn has been St Vincent's destroyer in chief this year as the Dublin champions marched to the All-Ireland Club final. But Croke Park will hold no worries for Tomás, who is used to playing in front of sell-out crowds with the Dublin footballers.
Indeed, until last year, Tomás was better known for his exploits with the Dubs, before Vincent's began their incredible run to this year’s Club final - a stage they have not reached since 1976. Tomás finished top scorer in the Dublin Championship last year with an incredible 7-31. And the Vins' skipper led by example as they saw off the Meath champions Seneschalstown, Portlaoise, and Westmeath's Tyrellpass in the Leinster final. In last month's semi-final victory over Crossmaglen, Tomás grabbed a goal and two points. He poses problems to defences on several fronts - he is quick, a deadly finisher and a specialist free-taker.
You have had an incredible year with St Vincent's. What stands out for you?
Winning the Dublin Championship and then going on to win Leinster were amazing. It's a great run and there were massive wins for Vincent's, but hopefully the main highlight is yet to come on St Patrick's Day.
Who have been your toughest opponents?
I would have to be fair and say that the Vincent's lads that I mark in training are the toughest I have come up against - the likes of Paul Conlon and Hugh Gill. We have an excellent defence, we have only conceded two goals in our run to the final and that's down to the lads at the back.
Who were your heroes growing up?
When I was young, I would have looked up to Dublin's Barney Rock, and as a youngster, I probably played more hurling than football, so Kilkenny's DJ Carey would have been a hurler I really looked up to.
Who are the players you admire?
My team-mate in St Vincent's Pat Gilroy, who also won the Sam Maguire with Dublin, is the player I admire most.
What is the most important skill?
I think being able to kick the ball with both feet is the most important skill to learn.
What advice would you have for young players?
Listen to your coaches, train hard and practise kicking with both feet.
What are your hopes for 2008?
I want to win two All-Irelands in 2008, the first one with St Vincent's on St Patrick's Day, and the second one with the Dubs in September!
