Camogie star Veronica Curtin has long been regarded as one of Galway's main attacking threats. The Kinvara woman made her debut 12 years ago, the same year that the Tribeswomen last won the All-Ireland title. She had won a Minor and Junior All-Ireland the previous year and went on to win the National League in 2002 and 2005. Galway lost last year's All-Ireland semi-final to an outstanding Wexford team, who went on to beat Cork in the final in September. While Veronica may not have collected silverware with the Tribeswomen in the last two years, she was honoured with All-Stars in 2006 and 2007 for her fantastic performances in the maroon and white.

What were your highlights of the last year?
As far as Galway went, there wasn't really a highlight because it was a disappointing year. We were beaten by Wexford in the semi-final but team-wise we were not great as we had a lot of players coming in late. On a personal level, it was lovely to receive the All-Star Award and to be recognised for playing.

Who are the toughest team you have come up against?
Wexford were definitely the toughest team we have faced. They set the standard last year and everyone will have to raise their game this year to match that.

Who was your toughest opponent?
It would have to be Wexford full-back Catherine O'Loughlin or Tipperary's Una O'Dwyer.

Who were your heroes growing up?
Galway's Sharon Glynn and Cork's Linda Mellerick.

What players do you admire?
Wexford's Kate Kelly is a brilliant player and I also have huge admiration for Cork's Gemma O'Connor.

Do you play other sports?
I do kickboxing, and I play hockey and golf, when I have the time!

What is the most important skill?
I think striking is the most important skill. You have to be able to strike off your left and your right side, long and short, to be able to play at the top level.

What advice would you give young players?
Practise every day and don't just leave it until you are at training. If you can find a high wall, practise against it and always be conscious of your weaknesses.

What are your hopes for 2008?
That’s an easy one - to win the All-Ireland with Galway!
